It is official, Big D is leaving me. I don't know how I'm going to survive with him gone. The kids will have a week left in school, the most hectic week of our lives next to the first week of school.
Big D flies out to Pittsburgh for the first of a five week training. He was talking about when he gets to the airport there will be a dude holding a sign with his name to take him anywhere he wants to go. He gets to ride in a limo. Hopefully he isn't expecting the same treatment when he gets home, although that would be funny if we made up a sign for him.
Ooh, maybe I'll do that, shhh don't tell him. I know he won't find out from me because he never reads my blog, unless I write something bad about him because we're in a fight (that only happened once and I took it off my blog).
I was all stoked about the limo because next month I get to go with him to Pittsburgh. I got giddy thinking I get to ride around in a limo. Then Big D burst my bubble when he told me we're renting a car when I go. I guess that makes more sense in the long run. A driver would get ticked at me for making him drive me around to all the church history sites while Big D was in his training.
I told Big D that on the other weeks he's gone, the ones I don't get to go with him, I'm going to take off and leave town too. I'm going to visit my sisters, my cousin and her new baby, and my BFF from high school. Really anywhere I want to go, I'm gone.
This is going to be a crazy summer which means it's going to fly by.

Big Weekend
It was a big weekend for us. We went out to Papa Guy and Grandma Honey's to help with branding their cattle. The kids went out the night before and I waited until Big D was done with a service project of cleaning the cemetery. By the time he got home he was so tired he didn't want to go. He asked me to cut his hair right as I was getting ready to leave and I told him I'd do it that evening when I got home.

Branding went pretty quick because they had a lot of help. Not me of course, I was there in a documentary position only. I think one guy ended up with a concussion from being danced on by one of the calves. A couple guys ended up a little bloody. My Uncles Mike and Jeff got diarrhea shot all over them. There are many MANY reasons I stay on the other side of the fence.

This little man, Aiden, belongs to my cousin Rachel and her husband Jared. I thought he was so cute watching his dad wresting with those cows. He looks like a future cowboy. Who knows maybe a couple more years and he can be in the pin with the big boys.

The darn shoot kept breaking down. I think this was about the fourth time. Some of those cows were trying to escape so hard that they would slam against the on side of the shoot and lift the other side off the ground. No wonder it kept breaking.

This is Bear watching all the fun. As you can see from his bum, the cow pies did not elude him.

When we got home from Papa's I was surprised to see Big D had taken the shears into his own hands. Every time I looked at him I'd bust up laughing.

He had this perfect one inch white stripe around one ear, circling the of his neck, and back up over the other ear. I think next time he will be more patient and wait for me to get home. I asked him if he learned his lesson and he said probably not. Some how I believe him.

As if the tooth fairy hasn't come to our house enough this week, Bud decided the first go around was exciting enough to want to do it again. He showed us at Church today that his other front tooth was loose. I told him the more he played with it the less it would hurt and we were definitely pulling it when we got home.

He didn't want a repeat of the other night so he worked really hard to get it as loose as possible. It worked, Big D didn't even need floss this time. He reached in and yanked. There were no tears, no losing the tooth (once it was pulled), and very little blood. He is going to make the tooth fairy have to take our a small business loan if he doesn't slow down. I think he really wants to enjoy himself in Florida. Too bad the tooth fairy will be too broke to enjoy herself.

We Are OOOOKay
I appoligize for those of you who came to read my blog and it was deleted. The one time the husband decides to read my blog and it's about him. I think it tipped him off when C called to see if every thing was okay and Big D was sitting right next to me as I was chatting with her.
Hello, private conversation dude.
After the phone call he made me bring up my blog so he could read it. I was a little ticked when I wrote it and he wouldn't talk to me, I needed someone to talk to me so I chose all of you.
He was afraid my family would think there was some thing really wrong between us if they read it and he didn't want all the questions.
I'm sorry I usually don't air our laundry out for public entertainment. I don't think you have to worry about that any more. If any thing good came out of it, I think Big D will be a regular reader of my blog now.
Oh and we sat down and had a really good communication session ourselves and all is better. I guess that's another good thing to come from it, when I want to talk, he'll open up a bit sooner.
If there is anything Big D is depressed about now it's that he has to go to work while the rest of us have the week off. It is torturing him. Is it bad that that makes me smile just a little bit?
Who is loving the Christmas music? Me. I am. Oh me too.

Guilt, It's a Powerful Thing
Sandra, the daughter of the lady we were going to buy the house across the street from, came over yesterday. She told us that someone has put earnest $$ down on the house.
Personally, I knew she didn't have to come and tell me, but it was an answer to my prayers.
Every morning walking up my stairs and seeing the house across the street still available and screaming at me, "Why don't you want to buy me?"
A part of me was holding out hope that one day Big D would come home and say he'd changed his mind and he really wants to move across the street. I knew that hope would die if someone would just hurry and purchase the home.
I've been praying that this self induced torture would end and someone in this rechid economy would free me, and now they have.
I sent Big D an email telling him HIS good news, because I've been driving him nuts. Just last week they put a "Price Reduced" sign up and I approached Big D about how he felt about that. I knew then that I needed to quit sharing my feelings with him or I'm going to send him to an early grave.
When he got home from work he asked me how my day was, knowing full well that I was on the verge of tears. I told him that I threw myself into the task of finding us a new cell phone and plan.
I told him a couple days ago that I'd really like to get a Blackberry, but after my research I found out it would cost us about $100 a month. I don't know if you know this or not but that is $1,200 a year, are you kidding me.
Big D gave me some other ideas on where to look and we decided to go try going through our land line phone company to see if they could give us a better deal.
Needless to say when he came home from work yesterday he was on the phone calling people working out a deal and he bought me a pink Blackberry, I really wanted red but pink will do.
When we went to bed last night and all was said and done I asked him if he got me the Blackberry to make up for not getting the house? He could have easily told me I needed to get a less expensive phone and live with it, I have been for the past ten years or so.
He laughed and said No, but a part of me still wonders. I know he loves me and he wants to give me every thing I want. Plus, I know that I have champagne taste on a beer budget, I think I inherited that from my dad.
A couple years ago Big D and I got into a fight because he called me high maintainence. After I explained to him my definition of "high maintainence" he recanted, but I think he was right. I've brought up that fight off and on asking him how he feels about it now, but I think he was right even back then.
When we go camping we have to pay to drive a gas guzzling RV just so I can have a shower, a bed, and a toilet. When we are buying a cell phone the one I get my heart set on is a $150 phone (and that's not including the plan). When we finally get our cute little abode right where we want it, I want a bigger one so I can have family over for Thanksgiving.
We are a one income family. My husband works very hard so that I can stay home and raise our four beautiful children. Everyone comments on what good kids they are and Big D always gives me the credit, but I know the truth they have an awesome dad.
Big D knows I am high maintainence and he still loves me. He still does every thing in his power to give me the desires of my heart and it crushes him when it is just not possible.
I love my Big D to eternity and beyond! I can only hope that I make him feel as loved as he makes me feel. I don't need a bigger house or a Blackberry to be happy. As long as I have my family together and we are all healthy I am the luckiest woman in the world.

Walking on the Beach
We loved walking on the beach. We tried to do it as much as possible. We probably would have done it more if it wasn't raining the whole time we were there. This is Hampton Beach in New Hampshire. The water really wasn't too bad but you can totally tell we are tourists with our rain coats on playing in the water. I think that might be an oxymoron, or at least just moron.

At first we tried really hard not to get our shorts wet, but then the tide would come in.

I think we both went home looking like we wet our pants, but it was so worth it. Big D is such a big kid.
Every once in awhile the camera would react with the water in the air and it was either hard to focus or I'd take a picture and all you could see is water droplets.

I think Big D's co-workers thought we were crazy. They wanted to walk the beach with us but not in the water. I think they're crazy, how can you come to the ocean and not play?

We wrote a little message to our kids in the sand. Ahhh, what good parents we are, we leave them for a week and a half and all they get is an "I Love You" in the sand as proof of how much fun we were having without them.

Yukon Disaster
If we didn't have drama, life would be boring. Plus, I'd have nothing to write about.
We took a trip up to Washington for our cousin's wedding a few weekends ago. On the way up we decided to stop and check out this Yukon we found on Craig's List. We really weren't going to but we thought since we were in the area we might as well. We test drove it and then went on our marry way.
Big D has been wanting a bigger vehicle like this for a couple years now. I've been very impressed with how patient he's been and how diligent in finding just the right one.
Over the weekend we discussed it and decided to purchase it on the way home. I'm pretty sure having eight people crammed into a tiny mini van helped with the decision.
After the couple hour drive in our new Yukon Big D decided he didn't like the way the big truck tires sounded and felt on the freeway so he took it in to Les Schwab to see if there was anything they could do about it, short of all new tires. They gave him some options and rotated the tires for us.
Big D was really excited to see how the Yukon pulled our boat so we decided to go boating the next day. We invited Brook and his family to join us and we all headed out after work.
As soon as we pulled out of the driveway I asked Big D if he felt like the shaking was worse than before? He said he couldn't really tell yet. We got distracted about all the fun we were about to have and didn't broach the subject again.
We got all the way out to the reservoir and at the top of the boat ramp I could tell Big D was feeling something funny. He started turning the wheel back and forth and then we slammed into the ground. I thought we hit a huge pot hole, until I saw our front drivers side wheel rolling off down the ramp and into the reservoir.

I had to walk down the ramp and fish the wheel out. We were so lucky because there were tons of people out boating and all their expensive trucks where parked along side the ramp. Our wheel went right past all of the trucks and trailers, all the people and animals, we were so lucky!!! We were even more lucky, or should I say blessed, that it didn't happen five minutes earlier when we were going 75 mph down the freeway.

Brook hooked up the boat to his truck, thank goodness he was there. The funny thing is five minutes after it happened my brother, Lowell, called me and asked if we were all okay. I asked him how in the world he knew so fast. He laughed and said he was the center of the loop, he knows every thing, some times before they happen. I told him he could have given us a heads up then.
We called Les Schwab and they sent out a truck to fix us up so we could get home. After an hour of being the center of attention and having people telling us the obvious, "Wow, dude that sucks!" Les Schwab finally showed up. Big D calmly told them, "You've let me stew for an hour, I don't think this is the best time to talk to me. We are going boating, you fix the truck and park it on the side for us. I'll talk to you tomorrow." We left and went boating.

After we were done boating we had a mismatched wheel on our Yukon and six terrified people to ride home in it. We had Brook pull the boat home and we followed, slowly. I guess I just hope that this isn't the kind of "mark" we will be known for when we say we left our "mark" on this world.

Our 13th Anniversary
Big D and I have been married for 13 years now. What a wonderful 13 years it has been. I pray we have 113 more.
We decided to run away for the weekend, since it was an extended weekend just for us. It's nice when the entire nation celebrates a wonderful day with us. Big D and I take turns planning our festivities and this year it was my turn.
We started our weekend with a nice dinner out with my sisters, yes it was nice to have them with us.
After lunch we dropped them off and went out and about on our own. We stopped at an indoor go kart racing facility. It was super expensive, so we had to do it twice. The computer kept track of everyone racing so it could tell us who won. The first race Big D came in first and I came in third. The second race Big D came in first again and I came in second.
We took a stroll around Temple Square as we were waiting for Monster Jam to start.
It was a beautiful day in a beautiful place.
Temple Square is so peaceful, I love hanging out there. We made it to Monster Jam with time to spare. I loved watching Backwards Bob, it just looked wrong the way he was driving, which made it more entertaining to watch.

The only thing that would be better is if he rolled his truck.

We had to get a shot with the Bull Dozer in the back ground for our boys, they have a little toy of that truck. I am going to be such a cool mom when they see this.

I thought this was a cute Valentine...

Oh Deer
Heading out to my dad's to pick up my three oldest, we ran into (not literally) a herd of about twenty deer just before going through the gap. They were so beautiful! Bear was in the back seat asleep and missed the whole thing.

We were thinking about waking him but then Kinnzi leaped out the window and chased the deer. I was so ticked she did that, we didn't get along the rest of the day.

If the deer and Kinnzi weren't drama enough, slowing down to see the deer made us lose momentum and about half way through the gap, which was solid ice, we lost traction and no longer continued to go in a forward motion. There is no cell service in the gap nor on the back side. I was seriously thinking about walking back out to the front of the gap and calling my dad's house, but we wanted to try to push first.
The really funny thing is we just got done listening to a story by Glen Rosson about a boy and his dad on a hunting trip when they came upon a slick hill they needed to climb. They were up in the mountains and on one side of the truck was a pretty steep embankment. Half way up the mountain their truck lost traction and the dad was flooring the gas to get the truck to do something but sliding all over. The young man was scared and asked his dad to stop but his dad just gave him a reassuring smile. Something happened and the dad had to let off the gas and the truck started sliding backwards toward the embankment. The young man thought they were going to die but the dad got back on the gas and eventually made it over the mountain.
Now back to us. We were in the middle of the gap with a huge mountain of rocks on one side and a steep embankment down to a creek on the other side and we start spinning out going no where.
Big D, who is wearing shorts at this time, drives while I get out and push...a Dodge Grand Caravan...up hill...on solid ice. Who said chivalry is dead, actually I voluntered since Big D wasn't dressed for the blizzard raging outside.
I pushed the van about fifty feet then it would go no farther. We were sliding everywhere, there was no room to turn around, and it would've been too dangerous to try and back out of the gap.
We switched places and I tried to drive and Big D try to push, but to no avail. I put the car in park to switch Big D again and the car started sliding backwards.
A car came through and just passed us without a look back, that's always nice. We saw a strip of gravel in the middle of the road and figured if we could just get our wheels to that strip we should be able to get some traction.
Big D got back behind the wheel and I started pushing again. We finally pushed the car sideways enough to hit that strip and it worked. Thirty minutes after we went in the gap, we finally came out the other side.
That night on the way home we decided to go the long way out and around the mountain instead of trying our hand at the gap again. I looked at Big D and thanked him for the drama, but I confessed I'd had enough for one day. Yeah, we made it home safely.

That night on the way home we decided to go the long way out and around the mountain instead of trying our hand at the gap again. I looked at Big D and thanked him for the drama, but I confessed I'd had enough for one day. Yeah, we made it home safely.

'79 Is A Good Year
We woke up this morning and it was about twenty below zero. Brrrrr! I was cold all night, which is probably why I kept waking up all night. I'd done the motherly thing and given away my big blanket to Bear so he wouldn't be a bear the next day.
My sister-in-law and her husband had to leave back to the real world today. They drove their truck so they could pull our snowmobiles for us. So Big D and Papa Ray went out to load the machines to be taken home. It took a little bit to get them started, every thing was frozen. Once they did get them started they had a hard time getting them to move because they were frozen to the ground.
After about thirty minutes every thing was loaded and on its way home. One of the guys down in the loading area started laughing when they saw Big D driving his 1979 snowmobile to load it on the trailer. He said he had about six brand new machines and they couldn't get them running for nothing, but here are these ancient machines and they are the only ones in the area driving down the road.
Big D said all the big sexy trucks in the loading area had their hoods up with dudes hanging out the top. No one could get anything started this morning. I was so happy that my in-laws decided to extend our vacation by a day. We weren't part of the mad rush to get loaded and checked out.
I don't think the people in the cabin next to us ever got their truck started. They had to be towed out.
It is funny, out snowmobiling we get a lot of funny looks and some snickers because our machines are so old. Practically everyone we passed had brand new big dog machines. We were the ones smiling today as ours are the only machines that would do anything. Big D puts a lot of time into pampering his machines and I think it really paid off for him today.

New Year's Resolutions, Yuck!
I have made a lot of New Year's Resolutions in my life, as I am sure many people have. Out of all the resolutions I've made in my thirty plus years I can count only one that I've seen all the way through.
Back in 2006 I resolved to read the entire Bible. It was hard, and it took me a long time, but I finished it before the year was over. I was so proud of myself, I felt a wonderful sense of accomplishment.
Despite my success in 2006 I really dislike resolutions. I feel like I'm setting myself up to fail before I ever begin. Then I feel even worse when I finally admit defeat, which usually means I feel so guilty that I haven't done anything toward my resolution by April I push it completely out of my mind. Every time I think of my failure after that point is like twisting the toothpick under my finger nails.
Needless to say, Big D and I are not making any resolutions this year, mainly because I really don't want feel like a failure.
However, we have set up, what I think, is a very interesting wager.
This is the year for taking back ourselves. We've been whining about our weight for quite awhile now. We are both at our highest weight that we've ever been, excluding being pregnant with twins - but I have been asked if I'm pregnant (that's bad).
We are giving ourselves a time limit and a carrot. By July 17, 2009 whom ever loses their desired weight: Big D = 35 lbs Tiff = 30 lbs, wins the carrot.
If Big D wins he gets to buy new snow machines. He gets to pick any machines he wants and I can't give my opinion, unless asked.
If I win we get to take the family to Disneyland, and I get to look sexy on the beaches of California - not that I will touch the water, I've seen 'Jaws' one too many times.
I figure if I hold myself responsible by posting both our progress once a week then I won't be able to just give up when it gets tough. That and I'm on my blog so much that I will constantly see my progress and it will always be on my mind.
We've laid out our game plan and we are ready to start as soon as we get home from vacation.
I am excited and I hope this helps keep me motivated. Have I mentioned that the only thing I hate worse than resolutions is diets?

Snow Snow Snow
Who doesn't love the snow? I love the snow! Which is rather funny because I hate being cold, but if you dress right you don't have to worry about being cold.
We've been getting a bit nervous about our lack of snow this year. We were hoping we'd have a great winter with the spring and fall being so moist, but nope. At least not yet, there is still hope.
The past two days we've gotten probably around three inches. It is so beautiful it's hard not to smile when I look out the window.
Big D has been so discouraged about the lack of snow this year that he's had a hard time getting the umph to get the snowmobiles ready for our trip.
Now that it's finally snowed not only has he got both machines running he has already been out pulling the kids around the neighborhood. It's a good thing we have good neighbors who don't call the police.
It's funny to watch the kids in the neighborhood pour out of the houses when Big D drives down the street on his snow machines. I think he's the biggest kid of them all, it's also one of the things I love about him.
Well, the kids and I are going to head out and shovel some more sidewalks and driveways. Have I said yet how much I love the snow?

Husband Brag
I got this from my friend Rosa's blog. She called it Husband Tag but I decided to change the title. Thanks Rosa for the idea!
1. Where did you meet?
We grew up together, he was my brother Brook's best friend.
2. How long did you date before you got married?
We dated for exactly six months to the day.
3. How long have you been married?
We will be married for thirteen years in February
4. What does he do that surprises you?
He loves his family more than anything. Not having a father in the home growing up I didn't have any expectations on what kind stuff father's are suppose to do. He blows me away every day with how great of a husband and father he is.
5. What is your favorite feature of his?
His big strong arms. I love grabbing his arms and squeezing them. They are solid!
6. What is your favorite quality of his?
He is always so calm and logical. He knows just what to do in situations, and if he doesn't he's a really good pretender.
7. Does he have a nickname for you?
Not that I can think of. I have a lot for him, it kind of depends on my mood. I usually call him my Sexy Beast, Dr. Jones, or Hunk-a-hunk of burnen love.
8. What is his favorite color?
Purple
9. What is his favorite food?
He loves food, any food that he doesn't have to make himself.
10. What is his favorite sport?
Motocross
11. When and where was your first kiss?
We had our first kiss, on our second date, on the back of a trailer at the go cart track. He didn't remember that I am deaf in my right ear and whispered, "Can I kiss you?" I didn't have a clue as to what he said and I turned my head to ask him to repeat and he planted one on me. After seeing my stunned eyes he asked what was wrong, he'd asked if it was okay. I reminded him that I am deaf. We still have a good laugh about that.
12. What is your favorite thing to do as a couple?
We love to cuddle up on the couch and watch a good movie while he gives me a massage.
13. Do you have any children?
Yes, we have five: Bug, Beaner, Bud, Bear, and Sweeton.
14. Does he have a hidden talent?
He is such a romantic. When we were first married he informed me he doesn't like to do all that romantic stuff:flowers, chocolates, and superfluous garbage. I said that was fine because I'm not one who enjoys that kind of stuff anyway. Come to find out romance means some thing different to everyone and he knows just what makes tick: watching him wrestle with the kids on the front room floor, remembering that I like ice in my milk, calling me a couple times a day just to see how I'm doing, etc etc etc. He is the most romantic man I know.
15. How old is he?
He is a riping 33.
16. Who said I love you first?
I did, we went for a drive and stopped on a road that isn't used much. We'd always go walk that road when we needed to talk. I can't remember what we needed to talk about but I do remember turning too him and asking him if he knew I was in love with him. I think this was a turning point in our relationship because a couple months before we had a big all night fight and I told him I was still in love with my ex-boyfriend, Brian. Brian and I dated for a couple years and almost got engaged before I broke things off. It had been eight months, he was married to someone else, and I was scared to get back in the same situation.
Big D was not happy when I shared how I felt but he was very patient and didn't give up on trying to win my heart. After I'd told him that I loved him it wasn't long before we were engaged.
17. Whats his favorite type of music?
Right now he is really enjoying Church music, a little Afterglow, some Raymond dude.
18.What do you admire most about him?
His ability to talk to people and instantly make them feel at ease. He makes friends so easily everybody loves him.
19. Do you think he will read this?
No, he's way too busy.
I am so truly blessed to be married to a man as sweet and loving as Big D. I am grateful I have all eternity to repay him.

Gone Amiss
Big D is feeling a little overwhelmed with school and work. Yesterday he wasn't able to call or see us all day. He had to go straight from work to school.
Bear woke up this morning asking where daddy was. When I told him he was at work he asked when he got to come home. In Bear's mind daddy was at work all day the day before and all night.
Big D got home from school last night looking very despondent and discouraged. He started questioning if it is worth going to school especially since he doesn't know what he wants to do after he's done.
He feels like he's missing out on the kids lives. They are growing up so fast and missing one day of their life is more than he can take.
I tried doing everything I could think of to cheer him up. I made him a pot roast with roasted veggies. His mom brought over some chips and dip. I waited up for him while he studied, nothing worked.
I hate it when he gets so down like this. I wish there was a way to show him that he's doing the right thing by going back to school. If he could only stick it out until the end he'd be able to see what it was all for.
I am so proud of him. He works so hard to provide for our family and works even harder to make our lives better.
I am so blessed to have a husband who loves to spend time with his family. He's an awesome father and wonderful husband. Now how do I make him realize this?

Big D's Birthday Bash
Every year for Big D's birthday we go boating. We've been doing it since we got married and it works really well for me because I don't have to buy him a present, his present is boating.
I was great because this year C came with her family. I haven't seen her in quite awhile and her little ones are growing up too fast. I got her to go on a tube with me, way to go C! I also got Rae, my brother Lowell's wife to go on a tube with me. The funny thing is it's been about ten years since any of us have been on a tube. It was a big day for us all.
I did get some pictures but not many because my camera died. It's been a busy camera this summer so I can't fault it for giving up.

Her is Bree, my brother Itch's daughter, Bug and Beaner. This was Bree's first time ever on a tube. I was so proud of her she did great. She's a regular Tubinator now.

Here's Bree with an ingenious idea to keep the water out of her eyes. Bug's tube splashed her too much so this was her remedy. Smart cookie!

Kinnzi did great at the beach this time. I think she is getting used to it. She would get so frustrated if she saw me leave on the boat without her. She liked to walk around like she was queen of the boat, but don't try and put her in the water, that's just not her cup of tea. Under the front she would rest and get out of the sun, plus that was the only place she could hide and not get thrown in, again.
